Abby Whiteside was a piano teacher who throughout the first half of the 20th century developed a profound, complete, and uplifting system of piano pedagogy that has made great contributions to our understanding of learning in general.

Abby Whiteside's notion of an all encompassing emotional rhythm can make easy the connection between hearing and physical movement, can solve repetitive injury problems common to musicians, and can bring the learning process out of the realm of drudgery and into the realm of music itself.

The Abby Whiteside Foundation was established in the nineteen-fifties to ensure that Abby Whiteside's books remained in print and made them available to libraries around the world. Today the Foundation, presided over by Whiteside trained teacher/pianist Sophia Rosoff, continues to carry on the Abby Whiteside legacy, promote her ideas, train performers and teachers, and sponsor musical performances by Whiteside trained pianists.
